About the course
This Certificate IV builds specialised skills to support people living with mental illness and psychosocial disability in community and care settings. You’ll develop capabilities in recovery-oriented practice, trauma-informed support, health promotion and prevention, and working with co-existing alcohol and other drug issues. The course includes an 80-hour industry placement and is delivered on campus. This is a Certificate IV qualification in mental health support within community services.
Career outcome
Graduates may work across community and mental health services supporting clients with complex needs and recovery goals. Typical roles include mental health support worker, community rehabilitation and support worker, mental health outreach worker, mental health community worker, mental health rehabilitation support worker, and peer support programs worker. This Certificate IV helps build job-ready capability for frontline community mental health and psychosocial support work. Preparing graduates for community support, welfare assistant, and care coordination roles, or degree articulation.
