About the course
This Certificate IV in Disability Support prepares you to support and empower people with disability in community-based and residential settings. You’ll build skills in person-centred practice, individualised support and promoting social inclusion, alongside communication approaches for diverse and complex needs. The course includes at least 70 hours of industry placement to apply your learning in real workplaces, as a Certificate IV in Health Sciences-focused disability support. The programme builds patient care fundamentals, clinical assistance skills, and health workplace practice.
Career outcome
Graduates can work in disability support roles across community services, in-home care and residential environments, helping people increase independence, participation and wellbeing. The qualification supports work that follows individualised plans and uses a person-centred approach, often with limited supervision. You may also assist with coordinating small teams and supporting clients with complex needs, as a Certificate IV pathway into Health Sciences-related disability support work. Preparing graduates for nursing assistant, care worker, and clinical support roles, or degree articulation.
