About the course
This qualification prepares you for a range of roles in community services, supporting people from diverse backgrounds through person-centred support, advocacy and interventions. You build skills to work with individuals, groups and communities, and to operate both autonomously and in teams within established service settings. The course includes supervised or simulated work placement to apply learning in practice, as a Certificate IV in Community Services. The programme introduces counselling basics, community support skills, and behavioural science fundamentals.
Career outcome
Graduates can pursue entry-to-intermediate roles across community services and related support sectors, assisting clients and communities through information, advocacy and coordinated support. Employment may be found in community organisations and services that overlap with areas such as youth support, disability services, mental health and advocacy/peer work. Typical roles include community worker, disabilities services officer and youth worker, aligned to a Certificate IV in Community Services.
