About the course
This Certificate IV in School Based Education Support prepares you to assist children’s learning and development in education settings. You’ll build skills in supporting curriculum delivery, managing behaviour, working effectively with students with additional needs, recognising children at risk, and applying legal, ethical and child-protection requirements. Delivered in a blended/face-to-face format over 12 months part-time, it includes 17 units of competency and supervised workplace learning in schools.
Career outcome
Graduates can pursue education support roles across Government, Independent and Catholic schools, assisting teachers and supporting students from kindergarten through to Year 12. Typical pathways include teaching assistant, education assistant (including special needs, language/literacy or cultural support), school aged care assistant, and home tutor roles. The qualification is designed for school leavers, career changers, and existing education staff seeking a formal VET credential in school-based education support.
