About the course
This Certificate III in School Based Education Support prepares you for work assisting teachers and supporting children and young people in a school setting. You develop skills to help deliver planned learning programs, support literacy and numeracy development, and contribute to inclusive classrooms and positive student behaviour. The course is delivered part-time over 12 months and includes at least 100 hours of work placement in an educational environment at Notre Dame’s Fremantle or Broome campuses.
Career outcome
Graduates can seek entry-level roles supporting classroom teachers across kindergarten to Year 12 in Government, Independent and Catholic schools. Typical opportunities include Teaching Assistant/Education Assistant, Aboriginal Teaching Assistant, Education Integration Officer and Learning Support Assistant. The qualification also provides a pathway for further vocational study in school-based education support, building practical capability through supervised workplace placement in education settings.
