About the course

This Graduate Certificate of Therapeutic Child Play introduces the therapeutic power of play and builds specialised skills for professionals working with children. You will examine child development, psychosocial and behavioural wellbeing, and foundations of neuroscience and psychopathology, including trauma and neurodevelopmental differences such as autism. The course emphasises evidence-based approaches you can apply in practice and is delivered fully online as a graduate certificate in psychology-informed child support.

Career outcome

Graduates can strengthen their capability to support children’s emotional, social and behavioural wellbeing using therapeutic play approaches. The course is suited to professionals in child-facing settings such as health services, education, community and allied health contexts, helping them integrate evidence-based play methods into existing roles. It can support progression into child wellbeing and support positions where understanding development, trauma and neurodiversity is important in a graduate certificate-level psychology-related pathway.
