This course is particularly well suited if you are a health care professional or scientist who faces complex ethical issues in your working life. The course is also valuable if you are involved in the development of public policy and law, or simply wish to explore issues of public concern. The course is designed in ways to suit you with little or no prior educational background in ethics or philosophy, and is also suitable for philosophy graduates with an interest in further studies of bioethics.
Career outcome
Graduates can apply bioethical reasoning to decision-making in healthcare, biomedical research, public policy and related regulatory or advisory contexts. The course supports roles where ethical analysis, governance and risk-sensitive judgement are needed, such as clinical and hospital settings, research ethics and compliance, government and NGOs, and health-related law and policy work. As a Graduate Certificate in Health Sciences, it can also provide a pathway to further postgraduate study in bioethics or allied fields.
