About the course

The Graduate Certificate of Accounting is a flexible qualification for graduates seeking accounting capability without committing to a full masters degree. It suits those new to accounting, those wanting to deepen prior study, or those needing additional courses to meet professional accounting body entry requirements. Teaching is delivered by research-active staff and is designed to articulate into ANU accounting masters programs.

What you might learn

You will build core accounting knowledge and practical understanding of contemporary issues in the discipline through graduate-level coursework. The program develops capability in financial reporting, law and related business foundations, while strengthening analytical and professional judgement. It also provides a pathway to further postgraduate study in applied, professional, or advanced accounting at ANU, subject to GPA requirements.

Career outcome

Graduates can use this qualification to strengthen employability in accounting and finance-related roles across business, government and not-for-profit sectors. It supports progression toward further postgraduate accounting study and can help meet prerequisite study expectations for professional recognition pathways. Typical opportunities include entry-level accounting and reporting functions, compliance support, and roles requiring sound understanding of financial statements and business regulation.

Entry requirements

Applicants must have either a Bachelor degree (or international equivalent) with a minimum GPA of 4.5/7.0, or at least 10 years full-time equivalent work experience at ANZSCO Skill Level 1 in a field related to the program. All applicants must also meet ANU English language requirements and are assessed competitively; meeting minimum requirements does not guarantee admission.
