About the course
This graduate certificate specialises in wound, ostomy and continence practice to meet growing demand for advanced nursing care for patients with acute and chronic wounds, ostomies and incontinence. You’ll develop specialist knowledge in relevant pathophysiology, advanced assessment and management, and evidence-informed clinical decision-making and advocacy. The course includes two weeks of specialty clinical practice and is offered part-time in Semester 1 for postgraduate nursing specialisation.
What you might learn
You’ll learn to critically analyse advanced concepts in specialty nursing and apply competency standards in practice. The course develops clinical decision-making by synthesising environmental, physical and psychosocial factors, and strengthens evidence-based practice through appraisal of complex literature. You’ll also build advanced communication within legal and ethical frameworks, use relevant technologies, and incorporate culturally respectful care and leadership in specialty nursing practice.
