About the course
This qualification prepares you for work in the automotive service and repair industry, focusing on inspection, servicing, diagnosis and repair of light vehicles. You’ll build practical workshop capability across engines, braking, steering and suspension, electrical and ignition systems, driveline and transmissions, cooling, emissions and fuel systems, using industry tools and equipment in a simulated work environment. This is a fast-paced Certificate III mechanical trade course. The programme focuses on applied engineering drawings, workshop skills, and technical maintenance competencies.
Career outcome
Graduates can pursue entry-level roles in automotive workshops servicing and repairing passenger vehicles. Typical work includes routine servicing, fault diagnosis and repair of mechanical and electrical systems under workshop procedures and safety requirements. Employment is commonly with dealerships, independent repairers and service centres, with pathways to further study such as Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Diagnosis. This Certificate III supports careers in light vehicle mechanical work.
