About the course
This course prepares you for a career supporting young people aged 12–26 by developing skills to guide, advocate and connect them with services and resources. You’ll build interpersonal and helping skills, inclusive practice, and approaches to create positive social change with young people. The course includes specialist youth work units plus electives from areas such as psychology, counselling, criminology and community development in a Bachelor degree focused on youth work.
Career outcome
Graduates can pursue roles supporting young people across community, education and welfare settings. You may work with individuals and groups to promote wellbeing, participation and empowerment, and to connect clients with services. Career pathways can include youth worker roles in community organisations, schools and outreach programs, youth justice and rehabilitation services, counselling and support services, and community development agencies, building a foundation for professional practice in youth work at bachelor level.
