About the course

This taxation major is studied within Curtin’s Bachelor of Laws/Bachelor of Commerce double degree. It combines core legal training with a strong commercial focus, emphasising industry-connected learning and early exposure to the culture, community and ethics of tax and legal practice. Students can accelerate progress through trimester study in later years and gain practical experience at Curtin’s city facilities, including a digital moot court and law clinic. The programme builds legal reasoning, case analysis, and professional ethics for legal practice and public service pathways.

Career outcome

Graduates can pursue roles where legal practice and commercial or taxation knowledge overlap. Career pathways may include working as a lawyer in areas such as criminal, family, human rights or mining law, or as in-house counsel within organisations needing legal and regulatory support. The combined LLB/BCom structure also supports careers in finance-related roles such as financial dealer or broker, particularly where compliance and legal risk awareness are valued. Preparing graduates for legal practice, paralegal, compliance, and public sector legal support roles.
