The Tailored Program is an honours specialisation within the Bachelor of Music (Degree with Honours) that allows students to design an individual course of study aligned to their musical strengths, interests and vocational aspirations. It supports exploration across different music-related fields and encourages students to shape a program that matches their academic and creative direction. Entry involves meeting the degree’s standard eligibility requirements and providing a focused personal statement.
What you might learn
This specialisation aims to help students articulate and pursue a personalised honours pathway in music, grounded in their prior music and academic background. Students develop the ability to identify key interests within and beyond music, reflect on strengths and gaps, and plan targeted areas for further exploration. The application process emphasises clear rationale and readiness for advanced honours-level study without requiring a live audition or interview.
Career outcome
Graduates may pursue pathways in music-related professional practice and further study, shaped by the individual focus they design within the program. Depending on the selected fields (e.g., theory and analysis, performance practice, musicology, or education), outcomes can include roles in performance and creative practice, music research and scholarship, arts and cultural organisations, or education and community music contexts. The tailored nature of the program supports alignment with specific vocational aspirations within the music sector.
Entry requirements
All applicants must meet the standard eligibility for the Bachelor of Music (Degree with Honours), as well as submit a personal statement. There are two components to each application: (1) University application via the University’s application portal, and (2) supplementary application submitting a personal statement (minimum 250 words) via the supplementary application form. Applicants are assessed on music background, academic background, and overall strength of the personal statement rationale. There is no live audition/interview required for the Tailored Program. Please note, the Tailored Program specialisation will not be offering a 2026 intake.
