About the course
This honours course is for high-performing students enrolled in ECU’s Bachelor of Speech Pathology and is offered by invitation based on academic results in the first three years. You’ll strengthen advanced clinical knowledge for assessing, planning and treating communication and swallowing disorders across diverse contexts, with links to speech science, psychology, audiology, education and linguistics. A supervised research project develops research capability in speech pathology at honours level.
Career outcome
Graduates build stronger research and advanced practice capability to support work as a speech pathologist in health, disability and community settings, including hospitals, rehabilitation, private practice, schools and aged care. Skills developed in assessment, intervention planning and evidence-based practice can also support roles in clinical research, quality improvement and service development. This honours qualification strengthens readiness for research pathways and advanced roles in speech pathology.
