About the course
This major is offered within Curtin’s Bachelor of Science and builds skills for careers across space exploration and planetary science. You’ll develop knowledge in space and planetary sciences and learn technologies for gathering, analysing and interpreting geoscience data. Studies can be tailored toward technical pathways such as remote sensing, Earth observation, space systems and mission design, alongside areas like data science, AI and software development in a Bachelor-level science discipline.
Career outcome
Graduates are prepared for roles across commercial and government space sectors, including space exploration, remote sensing and space-based Earth observation. Careers may also involve satellite-enabled services such as communications and global navigation, plus supporting infrastructure operations. Typical roles include planetary/space scientist, geoscience data analyst, remote sensing scientist, space research consultant and navigation systems specialist, working in research, defence, government agencies and space engineering industries within a Bachelor-level science discipline.
