About the course
This honours social work degree builds on the first two years of QUT’s Bachelor of Social Work, with entry available to students who meet the required GPA. You complete a further two years of full-time study including an honours research project, a social work elective and a research elective selected with academic supervision. The course includes professional placements and prepares you for advanced, research-informed practice in social work at bachelor honours level. The programme explores human behaviour, research methods, and applied psychology for community and organisational settings.
Career outcome
Graduates are prepared for professional social work roles that require culturally safe, justice-focused practice with individuals, families and communities. The honours research project strengthens your ability to evaluate programs, use evidence in practice and contribute to social change initiatives across government and community services. High-achieving honours graduates may be eligible to pursue doctoral study. Outcomes align with bachelor honours preparation in social work and human services.
