About the course
This honours degree prepares students for professional social work practice across health and mental health, child and family welfare, youth services, homelessness, domestic and family violence, disability, alcohol and other drugs, community development and advocacy. Grounded in social justice and human rights, it emphasises anti-oppressive, decolonised and trauma-informed practice, with core studies in social work methods plus foundations in Indigenous world views and social research. It is a Bachelor Degree / Honours Degree in Sociology & Social Work.
Career outcome
Graduates can pursue roles delivering and coordinating client services across government, community and health settings, including casework, family support, youth and homelessness services, mental health and disability support, and domestic and family violence services. The honours component supports pathways into research, evaluation, strategy and policy development, and service management. It is a Bachelor Degree / Honours Degree leading to careers in Sociology & Social Work. Preparing graduates for human resources support, community services, and psychology-related graduate pathways.
