About the course
This honours year in social science is designed for high-achieving graduates who want to extend undergraduate study through advanced social theory and supervised research. You will develop strong critical analysis and research skills while completing a substantial project in a chosen topic, with pathways into further research training. It is a Bachelor Honours qualification in social science. The programme develops laboratory techniques, scientific writing, and analytical methods for research and industry settings.
Career outcome
Graduates can apply advanced research and analytical skills across government, community and non-profit organisations, policy and program roles, research assistance and evaluation, and social research in applied settings. The honours year also strengthens preparation for higher degree study (masters or PhD) and roles requiring evidence-based analysis. It is a Bachelor Honours pathway in social science. Entry is based on a Bachelor of Social Science from UNE (or equivalent), and specific GPA and credit point requirements.
