About the course

The Bachelor of Science (Degree with Honours) is a one-year program for high-achieving science graduates that integrates advanced discipline study with an original, supervised research project. It builds on prior undergraduate learning through a combination of coursework and independent research, strengthening research methodology and analytical capability. The program can be undertaken as a pure honours specialisation in one area or a combined honours specialisation across two areas, and is designed as preparation for graduate research pathways.

What you might learn

Students develop advanced research and analytical skills by designing, conducting and communicating an original research project under supervision. The program aims to deepen disciplinary knowledge through advanced coursework that supports the theoretical basis of the research work. It also builds transferable capabilities in project implementation, independent problem-solving and clear communication of research outcomes.

Career outcome

Graduates can use honours-level research training to pursue further study in graduate research programs such as a PhD or Master of Philosophy, or to strengthen applications for some masters programs. The combination of advanced coursework and independent research experience supports employment across science and technology roles where analysis, investigation and evidence-based decision-making are required. Skills developed are applicable to roles involving research assistance, laboratory/field investigation, data analysis, scientific communication and project-focused work in a range of science-related industries.

Entry requirements

The Bachelor of Science (Degree with Honours) is available to students who have completed a Bachelor of Science degree within the last ten years. English language requirement: IELTS 6.5 (with no band less than 6.0).
