About the course

This Bachelor of Science (Animal Science) (Zoology) explores how animals function, behave and interact with people and environments. You’ll study animal health, welfare, nutrition, production and reproduction alongside zoology topics such as ecology, evolution, physiology and biochemistry. The course emphasises practical lab and field skills, with access to on-campus animal facilities and learning opportunities with external partners such as wildlife parks, zoos and farms.

Career outcome

Graduates can pursue roles across animal science and zoology in government, industry, research and communication. Opportunities include animal welfare officer, quarantine officer, zoologist, life scientist, scientific officer or science communicator, as well as roles in genetics, reproduction technology, animal nutrition, behaviour, health, physiology and product development. The degree also provides a pathway to further postgraduate study and research in animal and environmental sciences.
