About the course

Deakin’s Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) is a four-year undergraduate degree with an embedded honours year, combining advanced coursework with a supervised research project. You study the science of mind and behaviour, develop counselling and assessment foundations, and can undertake up to 140 hours of industry placement. The course supports a pathway to provisional registration and further postgraduate training in psychology at bachelor (honours) level. The programme explores human behaviour, research methods, and applied psychology for community and organisational settings.

Career outcome

Graduates can pursue further study toward general registration as a psychologist or move into psychology-related roles that do not require registration. Typical pathways include counselling and support services, youth and community work, mental health rehabilitation, social research, marketing and consumer insights, and human resources. The embedded honours year and research training also support progression into APAC-accredited postgraduate psychology programs at bachelor (honours) level.
