About the course
This Pre-Masters Occupational Health and Safety Specialisation is designed for students in the third year of Curtin’s Bachelor of Science (Health Sciences) who want to move into an Accelerated Bachelor Masters pathway leading to the Master of Occupational Health and Safety. It builds foundational OHS capabilities and prepares you to develop more advanced knowledge for professional practice and further learning at AQF level 8 in occupational health and safety. The programme deepens scientific methodology, data interpretation, and applied research skills for laboratory and field-based careers.
Career outcome
This specialisation supports progression into postgraduate study in occupational health and safety and helps prepare you for emerging responsibilities in workplace health, safety and risk management. Graduates who continue into the linked masters pathway may pursue roles across industry and government such as OHS advisor, safety coordinator, risk/compliance officer, or HSE support roles in sectors like resources, construction, manufacturing and services, building expertise aligned to an occupational health and safety professional pathway.
