About the course
This degree integrates politics, philosophy and economics to help you understand complex public problems from moral, political and economic perspectives. You’ll develop critical and conceptual thinking and learn to evaluate evidence and arguments across disciplines. The program is designed for students interested in leadership, policy and big societal questions, with a structured core and room for electives.
What you might learn
You will build strong analytical and problem-solving capability by combining foundational study in economics, political science and philosophy. The program develops logical reasoning, quantitative and methods skills for social inquiry, and the ability to connect theory to real-world issues through integrated PPE courses. Students learn to weigh trade-offs, assess policy choices, and communicate well-structured arguments.
Career outcome
Graduates are prepared for roles that value broad analytical judgement across policy, government and the private sector. Typical pathways include public policy and administration, political and economic analysis, consulting, research and think tanks, and roles in international organisations and NGOs. Entry requirements
Applicants must meet ANU’s program-specific academic/non-academic criteria and English language requirements. Admission is competitive and meeting the minimum does not guarantee an offer. Indicative selection ranks shown include ATAR 94 (or IB 38). Applicants should also review the relevant undergraduate admission pathway guidance before applying.
