About the course
In this course, you will learn about the chemistry, biology and technology of medicines and other chemical formulations and how to improve human health and well-being by researching and developing more reliable, accessible and effective treatments and products. You will develop the knowledge and practical skills critical to the discovery and development of new drugs and therapies leading to exciting careers in research and industry. The programme develops laboratory techniques, scientific writing, and analytical methods for research and industry settings.
Career outcome
These course outcomes are aligned with the Australian Qualifications Framework level 7 and Monash Graduate Attributes. Upon successful completion of this course, it is expected that students will be able to: demonstrate well-developed knowledge of pharmaceutical science, and advanced knowledge of a specialised discipline within the field of one of the specialisations: drug discovery biology, formulation science or medicinal chemistry. Preparing graduates for laboratory technician, research assistant, and science-based industry entry roles.
