About the course
This degree prepares you for entry-level professional practice as a speech pathologist, working with children and adults with communication and swallowing difficulties. You’ll study areas such as phonetics and linguistics, audiology and neurology, and learn alongside other health disciplines. Training includes extensive hands-on learning and clinical placements (around 910 hours) in settings like schools, hospitals and university health clinics, as a Bachelor-level qualification in speech pathology.
Career outcome
Graduates can pursue roles supporting speech, language, voice, fluency and swallowing across a range of client groups and settings. Employment may be found in hospitals, schools, community health, aged care and rehabilitation services, disability and early-intervention providers, and private practice. Speech pathologists often work in multidisciplinary teams with other health and education professionals, with opportunities across government services and not-for-profit organisations, as a Bachelor-level pathway into speech pathology.
