About the course
Mining Engineering is an undergraduate major focused on safely and efficiently extracting minerals from underground and open-pit mines. You’ll explore emerging mining technologies such as robotics, data analytics and machine learning, alongside mining economics, sustainable development and working with Indigenous cultures. The major is designed to support a transition into the global resources sector within a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) pathway. The programme combines engineering fundamentals, design projects, and industry-ready technical problem-solving skills.

Graduates can pursue careers across the resources sector as mining engineers and progress into leadership and technical planning roles. Typical pathways include mine planner/designer, operations manager, mine manager and mining company director, with opportunities in mining and resources, government, research and development, and risk analysis and investment.
