About the course
This double-degree major combines mechatronic engineering with space and planetary science for students aiming to work in technology-driven sectors. You’ll build capability across mechanics, electronics, computer systems and control alongside knowledge of planetary systems, space environments and mission design. Study includes hands-on laboratory and project work, with options to broaden into areas such as geospatial technology, data science and AI in an undergraduate engineering-and-science context.
Career outcome
Graduates develop a mix of engineering and space-science capability suited to roles across the space economy and related industries. Career paths may include mechatronic/automation engineer, computer systems engineer, remote sensing consultant, earth scientist/geoscientist, and space and planetary scientist. Opportunities span aerospace, engineering and resources/energy, supporting work in mission design and execution, spacecraft and automation systems, earth observation, and space-technology consulting at undergraduate level.
