About the course
The Sociology major explores how society shapes people’s lives and how everyday experiences connect to wider social forces such as class, gender, race and religion. You’ll develop sociological ways of thinking to analyse identity, inequality, power and social institutions across areas like media, health, family, work, crime and public policy. This major is studied within an undergraduate program in Sociology & Social Work. The programme explores human behaviour, research methods, and applied psychology for community and organisational settings.
Career outcome
A Sociology major can lead to roles that analyse communities, organisations and social change across government, business and the not-for-profit sector. Graduates may work in policy and research, community development, advocacy, program evaluation, social services, communications or stakeholder engagement, applying sociological insights to address inequality and improve outcomes.
