Deakin’s Bachelor of Information Technology (Honours) builds advanced expertise through a supervised research project in your chosen IT discipline. You’ll deepen your technical capability, investigate emerging technologies and develop ethical research and problem-solving skills. The course supports high-performing students to explore an area of interest with academic supervision, strengthening analytical and creative thinking for IT innovation and further research pathways in computing at honours level.
Career outcome
Graduates are prepared for research-informed and specialist technology roles that value investigation and advanced problem solving. Depending on the research focus, pathways may include roles in AI and data science, cyber security, cloud and systems development, application development, game and creative technologies, or XR/VR solutions. The honours research experience also supports progression to higher degrees and research careers in IT & Computer Science at bachelor honours level.
