About the course
Deakin’s Bachelor of Health and Physical Education prepares you to teach health and physical education in secondary schools. You’ll build sports science and movement knowledge across areas like biomechanics, motor learning and exercise physiology, supported by specialised facilities. The degree includes guaranteed professional experience placements (at least 80 days) and trauma‑informed practice through the Berry Street Education Model, leading to an approved pre‑service teaching qualification in health and physical education.
Career outcome
Graduates are prepared to work as secondary school health and physical education teachers, applying inclusive, engaging and safe teaching practices. Career pathways commonly include health and PE teaching roles in government and independent schools, supporting student wellbeing and physical literacy.
