About the course
Geochemistry (Extended Major) applies chemistry to explain Earth’s materials, systems and processes. You’ll build a strong foundation in geological and chemical principles and learn how chemical signatures reveal how rocks, oceans and the atmosphere form and change through time. The extended major provides deeper, more focused study within a Bachelor-level science pathway in geochemistry. The programme develops laboratory techniques, scientific writing, and analytical methods for research and industry settings.
Career outcome
This extended major can prepare you for roles that use chemical and geological analysis to solve Earth and environmental problems. Graduates may work in mineral and energy exploration, environmental assessment and monitoring, laboratory and analytical testing, consulting, or research support in government and industry. It also supports further study pathways within Bachelor-level science in geochemistry and related Earth sciences. Preparing graduates for laboratory technician, research assistant, and science-based industry entry roles.
