About the course
Murdoch’s Bachelor of Forensic Science builds practical skills for crime scene and laboratory work. Choose majors such as Forensic Biology or Forensic Chemistry and Toxicology to study DNA profiling, toxicology, trace evidence analysis and investigation techniques. You’ll strengthen core scientific knowledge alongside research, communication and problem-solving skills, with electives spanning areas like criminology, law, biomedical science and IT in a health and research precinct setting.
Career outcome
Graduates can pursue roles across forensic and analytical science settings, applying skills in evidence handling, laboratory testing and investigative support. Career paths may include forensic scientist, forensic biologist, crime scene officer, clinical or forensic toxicologist, chemical criminalist, drug analyst and wildlife forensics officer. The degree also provides preparation for further postgraduate study or research pathways (Honours/PhD) in forensic science. Preparing graduates for laboratory technician, research assistant, and science-based industry entry roles.
