About the course
The Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours) at UNSW Art & Design is a focused year of advanced studio practice and critical research. You’ll develop an independent body of work with expert supervision, strengthening conceptual thinking, experimentation and professional presentation. The program supports deeper engagement with contemporary art and design contexts, culminating in a substantial honours project in visual art. The programme combines disciplinary knowledge, applied learning, and graduate competencies for professional career entry.
Career outcome
Graduates may pursue roles as independent artists, designers and creative practitioners, or move into creative industries where advanced conceptual and research skills are valued. The honours year can strengthen portfolios for exhibition and commissioned work, and support pathways into arts organisations, galleries and cultural projects. It can also provide preparation for further postgraduate study in fine arts and related visual disciplines.
