About the course

This major explores how organisms interact with each other and their environments, building the biological and ecological knowledge needed to tackle biodiversity loss, habitat degradation and sustainable development challenges. You’ll develop field and analytical skills used in modern environmental science, including monitoring and assessment approaches supported by tools such as eDNA and GIS. It is offered within Curtin’s Bachelor of Advanced Science (Honours) and emphasises high-performance, project-based learning.

Career outcome

Graduates are prepared for roles addressing ecological impacts of development and industry through biodiversity monitoring, habitat restoration and conservation planning. Career paths include environmental biologist, ecologist, conservation consultant, mine restoration consultant, natural resource manager, remediated lands consultant, sustainability consultant, zoologist or botanist. Preparing graduates for laboratory technician, research assistant, and science-based industry entry roles.
