This double degree major combines physics and energy engineering to prepare you for work in the global energy sector. You’ll build foundations in thermodynamics, electromagnetism, materials and mathematical modelling, then apply them to the design, optimisation and management of energy systems. The major emphasises analytical and computational problem-solving and using industry-relevant tools to improve efficiency, sustainability and reliability in modern energy infrastructure.
Career outcome
Graduates can pursue roles across energy, technology and research, supporting the transition to low-emissions and net-zero systems. Career paths may include energy engineer or energy systems analyst, renewable energy or storage specialist, power and thermal systems engineer, smart-grid or infrastructure specialist, and carbon management or sustainability consultant. Opportunities also exist in utilities and government, or in research and innovation in applied physics and energy systems.
