About the course
Western’s Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood) prepares you to teach children from birth to five years in early childhood education and care settings. You build specialist knowledge in child development, curriculum and inclusive practice, supported by purpose-designed learning facilities and flexible on-campus/online study. The degree includes 80 days of professional experience and development of a professional e-portfolio, and is accredited by ACECQA and NESA as an initial teacher qualification in Education & Teaching.
Career outcome
Graduates can pursue roles across early childhood education and broader child and family services. Career pathways include early childhood teacher in early learning centres, as well as work in education policy, child and family support services, and leadership or management roles within education settings. The course also develops skills for working with families and communities to advocate for children’s learning and wellbeing, supporting professional practice in Bachelor-level Education & Teaching careers.
