About the course
Deakin’s Bachelor of Early Childhood Education prepares you to teach and support children from birth to age five. You’ll study child development, health and wellbeing, inclusion, professional practice and key learning areas such as literacy, mathematics, science and the arts. The course includes substantial supervised placements in early childhood settings and can be studied at Burwood or online, building practical, classroom-ready capability for early childhood education. The programme develops classroom practice, curriculum knowledge, and educational psychology for teaching professions.
Career outcome
Graduates can pursue roles as early childhood teachers and educators in long day care centres, kindergartens and other early childhood education and care services. The degree builds skills in curriculum planning, inclusive practice, child development and professional experience in real settings. You may also apply for teacher registration (subject to relevant authority requirements), supporting careers across early childhood education and care in Australia with a Bachelor-level teaching qualification.
