About the course
This double degree combines biomedical science with accredited laboratory medicine preparation. You’ll build a strong grounding in human biology, health and disease while developing practical diagnostic laboratory skills. The course emphasises hands-on learning and includes 16 weeks of industry placement, with pathways into laboratory medicine, biomedical research, medicine and other health professions. This is an undergraduate biomedical and laboratory medicine program at JCU.
Career outcome
Graduates can pursue careers supporting modern healthcare through diagnostic testing and analysis, including roles as medical laboratory scientists and related pathology laboratory positions. The biomedical science component also supports pathways into biomedical research, postgraduate study and entry into other health professions. Employment settings may include hospitals, pathology services, public health and research organisations. This is a bachelor-level pathway into biomedical and laboratory medicine careers at JCU.
