About the course
The Bachelor of Arts (Degree with Honours) is a specialised additional year of study for high-achieving students who have demonstrated academic excellence in their undergraduate degree. It provides advanced and specialised study across humanities, social sciences and languages, and develops higher-level research and analytical capability. The program combines advanced coursework with supervised independent research, allowing students to specialise in one area (pure honours) or two areas (combined honours), depending on the discipline.
What you might learn
Students develop advanced research methodology knowledge alongside deeper disciplinary expertise through upper-level coursework. The course builds high-level analytical and critical thinking skills, supporting students to generate original ideas and apply innovative solutions to complex problems. Through a substantial supervised research project, students strengthen project implementation and communication skills for presenting research outcomes.
Career outcome
Graduates gain advanced research, analytical and communication skills that support entry into a broad range of professional roles across government, community services, cultural and creative industries, education, communications and policy. The honours year provides experience in independent project work and research practice, which can strengthen competitiveness for graduate employment. It also prepares graduates for further study pathways such as Masters by Research or a Doctor of Philosophy in Arts-related fields.
