About the course
This one-year Honours program in Applied Geographical Information Systems builds advanced GIS capability through specialist training and an independent, supervised research project. You’ll work with contemporary mapping and spatial technologies to investigate real-world challenges across areas such as urban planning, biodiversity management, mining, transport and archaeology. The course strengthens data collection, synthesis and analysis skills through an Honours-level GIS research focus.

An Honours year in GIS is valued for specialist and government-focused roles, helping graduates move from laboratory-based training into professional practice. Skills are applicable across biodiversity and natural resource management, urban and regional planning, mining and exploration, archaeology, transport and infrastructure.
