About the course

The Bachelor of Agriculture (Degree with Honours) is a one-year full-time program for high-achieving students who want to extend their undergraduate agriculture studies through advanced coursework and an original research project. The program develops research capability through coursework in research principles and engagement with faculty research seminars. It also provides a pathway to graduate research, including Masters by Research or a PhD, and can further prepare students for employment with strengthened analytical and communication skills.

What you might learn

Students build advanced knowledge in a specialised area of agriculture while learning the principles and practice of research. Through a substantial independent research project and supporting coursework, students develop higher-level analytical, problem-solving, and academic communication skills. The course also aims to prepare graduates for research-intensive pathways, including doctoral study, and for professional roles requiring evidence-based decision making.

Career outcome

Graduates are prepared for employment in agriculture-related industries where advanced analytical and research skills are valued, as well as for research-focused roles. The honours year strengthens capability for independent project work and professional communication, supporting progression into roles across agribusiness, agricultural science and related sectors. It is also a pathway to further study such as a Masters by Research or a PhD, enabling careers in research and academia.
