About the course
This two-year associate degree provides hands-on training in purpose-built teaching laboratories alongside Flinders Medical Centre, preparing you for work in diagnostic pathology settings from first semester. You will develop core biomedical science knowledge and practical laboratory capability, with an option to transition into the Bachelor of Medical Science (Laboratory Medicine). This is an Associate Degree in Health Sciences focused on laboratory medicine. The programme builds patient care fundamentals, clinical assistance skills, and health workplace practice.
Career outcome
Graduates are prepared for entry-level roles supporting diagnostic pathology and medical testing services, with practical lab skills suited to clinical and research environments. Typical opportunities include Medical Laboratory Technician, Laboratory Technician, and Technical Officer roles across public and private pathology providers such as SA Pathology and Australian Clinical Labs. This is an Associate Degree in Health Sciences for laboratory medicine careers. Preparing graduates for nursing assistant, care worker, and clinical support roles, or degree articulation.
