About the Speaker

 

Mr Ma Mun Thoh, MA, is a Qualified Patent Attorney and a Registered Technology Transfer Professional. He is currently the Deputy Director of the National University of Singapore (NUS) Industry Liaison Office, and Head of Physical Sciences, Intellectual Property Management & Technology Commercialisation group.

 

His areas of specialisation encompass IP creation and filing strategies, as well as licensing and curating of deep tech spin-offs. He has played a critical role in deploying many IP & licensing strategies and is an IP Mentor to numerous start-ups. Mr Ma is also involved in teaching and developing the syllabus for the IP Module under the NUS Master of Science in Venture Creation programme.

 

Prior to joining NUS, Mr Ma was the Senior Group Manager of IP & Innovation and Chief Patent Engineer of a global multinational company. With his deep IP knowledge and experience, he advises stakeholders on a broad portfolio of patents, copyrights and trademark rights covering major global jurisdictions. He is familiar with the IP business in China, Europe, Singapore and the United States of America.
