About the course
Notre Dame’s Doctor of Philosophy (Physiotherapy) is a thesis-based research degree completed over three years full-time (or part-time equivalent). You will work closely with two academic supervisors to design and conduct an advanced investigation, developing appropriate research methodology and producing a thesis (traditional or by publication). The research is expected to make an original and substantial contribution to the field of physiotherapy. The programme advances health sciences research through evidence-based inquiry, clinical context, and supervised thesis development.
Career outcome
Graduates are prepared for research-focused careers where advanced inquiry and evidence generation are central. Typical pathways include academic and university research roles, clinician-researcher positions in hospitals and health services, roles in research institutes, and positions contributing to policy, program evaluation, or innovation in rehabilitation and allied health. This PhD supports progression to senior leadership in physiotherapy research and scholarship.
