About the course
This integrated Doctor of Philosophy provides intensive research training in the first year to prepare you for doctoral study, then transitions you into original supervised research if you achieve a 70% average. You’ll build capability in research methods and scholarly communication, including publishing and presenting at conferences. Research is supported by expert supervision within VU’s Sustainable industries and liveable cities focus areas for a PhD / Doctoral qualification across varied disciplines.
Career outcome
Graduates are prepared for research-focused careers where advanced inquiry, critical analysis and dissemination of new knowledge are required. Pathways commonly include academic and university research roles, research positions in government and policy agencies, and R&D or innovation roles in industry and consulting. The degree develops capability to design and lead substantial research projects and communicate findings to specialist and broader audiences, as a PhD / Doctoral qualification applicable across multiple disciplines.
