About the course
Undertake a PhD in Information Technology with the Deakin Institute for Intelligent Systems Research and Innovation (IISRI). You’ll be supported by an experienced principal supervisor and associate supervisors, develop an original research project and complete a thesis in your chosen IT field. Study can be undertaken on campus or online, with full-time or part-time equivalent enrolment options in advanced computing research. The programme builds computing research capability across algorithms, intelligent systems, and emerging technologies with practical industry relevance.

Graduates are prepared for research-intensive careers in universities, government and industry, applying advanced methods to complex information technology problems. Outcomes commonly include roles such as academic researcher/lecturer, research scientist, R&D specialist, data/AI or intelligent systems researcher, and technology innovation consultant.
