About the course
This PhD provides the opportunity to conduct sustained, independent and academically rigorous research in architecture and the built environment. You will work closely with an experienced principal supervisor and supporting associate supervisors to shape and deliver a research project, culminating in an examined thesis. Study can be undertaken on campus or online, with candidature typically completed in 2–4 years full-time equivalent in Architecture & Building.

Graduates are prepared for research-led careers where advanced inquiry and original contribution are valued, including roles in academia, research organisations, government and policy, and built-environment consultancies. The doctorate can also support progression into senior specialist and advisory positions across architecture, urban and regional development, and design research, leveraging high-level analytical, project and scholarly communication skills in Architecture & Building.
