About the course
Deakin’s Doctor of Philosophy - A2I2 is a Higher Degree by Research focused on information technology and applied artificial intelligence. You will undertake an original research project under the guidance of an experienced principal supervisor from the Applied Artificial Intelligence Institute, with support from associate supervisors. Study can be completed on campus or online, culminating in a thesis that presents your research contribution in IT and AI.

Graduates are prepared for research-intensive careers where advanced AI and information technology expertise is required. The degree supports pathways into academic research and teaching, government and industry R&D, and specialist roles developing and evaluating AI-driven systems and digital technologies. You may work as a researcher, data/AI specialist, or technical lead in sectors applying intelligent computing solutions. This is a doctoral research qualification in IT & Computer Science.
