About the course
This PhD develops advanced, independent research in fashion and textiles, supported by expert supervision and RMIT’s design-led research culture. You will design and undertake a substantial thesis project that contributes new knowledge to the discipline, engaging with contemporary industry, cultural and sustainability challenges where relevant. This is a doctoral research degree focused on Fashion & Textiles within design practice and scholarship. The programme explores creative technologies, digital media research, and interdisciplinary innovation in multimedia practice and theory.

Graduates are prepared for research-led careers where deep expertise in fashion and textiles is required. Typical pathways include academia and research training roles, design research and strategy positions, and specialist consultancy across fashion, textiles, materials, sustainability, innovation and cultural sectors.
