About the course
This PhD develops advanced research capability to contribute new knowledge in applied biology and biotechnology. You will undertake an original research project under expert supervision, building skills in research design, analysis and scientific communication. The program supports work aligned to industry and societal challenges, with access to RMIT’s research environment and facilities. This is a doctoral research degree in biomedical and biotechnology. The programme advances scientific inquiry through supervised laboratory or field research, data analysis, and thesis-based discovery.
Career outcome
Graduates are prepared for research-led careers in academia, government and industry across biotechnology, biological sciences and applied biosciences. Possible pathways include research scientist roles, laboratory and R&D positions, product and process development, bioinnovation and research management, as well as postdoctoral research and university teaching. Outcomes depend on your thesis focus and collaboration networks. This is a doctoral qualification for careers in biomedical and biotechnology.
